Make new friends, share experiences and become part of the Adult Learning Community! 

If you’re an adult with a disability living in the community, there may be a part-time learning opportunity at National Star that’s just right for you. Even if you haven’t been in education long, we guarantee a warm welcome, lots of encouragement and the chance to develop some exciting new skills.

Tuesdays

Ceramics – Create simple, uncomplicated seasonal items for yourself to brighten up your home or as gifts for family and friends.

Time: 

5.30pm – 7.30pm (8 March – 5 April and then 26 April -24 May). Location: Ceramics Room, National Star at Ullenwood

Wednesdays

Glass Fusing – Learn the basic principles of glass fusing. Learn basic glass cutting techniques. Design and assemble a variety of glass items such as bowls and decorations.

Time: 9.45am – 12.15pm (9 March – 6 April and then 27 April – 25 May). Location: Art Room, National Star at Ullenwood

Felt Making – Learn to roll basic felt shapes such as balls and flat pieces. Roll and shape a felt bowl. Assemble and decorate items with embellishments such as ribbons and beads.

Time: 

9.45am – 12.15pm (9 March – 6 April and then 27 April – 25 May). Location: Art Room, National Star at Ullenwood

Fitness 

Get fit and active to maintain your physical and mental wellbeing. You’ll be supported every step of the way to achieve your fitness goals, in a safe and welcoming environment.

Time: 10.30am – 11.30am and 11.45am – 12.45pm (9 March – 6 April and then 27 April – 25 May). Location: Fitness Suite, National Star at Ullenwood

Fridays

Cooking (remote, via Microsoft Teams) – Making a meal or snack for lunch / supper. Learner friendly step-by-step recipes.

Time: 10am – 12.30pm (11 March – 8 April and then 29 April – 27 May). Location: N/A – remote, via Microsoft Teams

Courses are aimed at adults with disabilities, aged 19 or over, living in Gloucestershire. To take part in a course you will need to be accompanied by a carer / support worker. 

A £30 registration fee is payable per course. Additional fees are required for practical courses, such as ceramics and felt-making at £10 per term.
