Creative Communities: New Perspectives

Art for wellbeing exhibition

Celebrating inclusive art for wellbeing

Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucestershire Carers Hub, Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS), Inclusion Gloucestershire, Look Again and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have worked together to provide online Mindful Photography courses and inclusive drama workshops to over 40 adults and young people in Gloucester. This Arts for Health project is culminating in this fantastic exhibition celebrating and showcasing participant’s photography and a film of drama work, displayed in the breath-taking Cloister of Gloucester Cathedral. Their work will be joined by guest exhibits from Cathedral run Art for Wellbeing community initiatives and the public launch event on Saturday 31 July will offer a range of hands-on taster arts activities for anyone to try.

The exhibition and public launch event has been programmed to also be part of this year’s FestivALL – a month dedicated to celebrating the diverse and welcoming communities in Gloucestershire.

The project has been enabled by support from Take Note: Connect, Gloucester and has benefitted individuals who have been impacted by Covid 19 including: Carers, NHS Patients and Volunteers, adults and young people seeking asylum, adults and young people facing disabling barriers and adults in recovery from mental ill health.

The exhibition opens on Saturday 31 July and will run until Monday 30 August. Standard opening times (Monday – Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 12noon-5pm) however this may vary so do check the Cathedral website before visiting.

Poster displaying information about an art exhibition at Gloucester Cathedral is displayed below. The poster shows four photographs that will be on display as part of the exhibition; A blue brush with a leaf on it, a close up photograph of hail stones, a tree photographed through glass and a bee on a yellow background.
