During a divisive tour of South Australia, they will trace their ancestors who were transported in the 1800s, embrace a new community and discover their musical DNA.
Mr Malcolm’s List (PG) | Thursday 15 September 4pm
Fans of Jane Austin and Bridgerton will delight in this witty and diversely cast regency romcom. When Julia engages in courtship with the mysterious and wealthy suitor Mr. Malcolm, she is unaware that he has a list of qualities required of a future wife. When she is jilted because she failed to meet an item on this list, Julia is determined to exact revenge. She convinces her friend Selina to play the role of his ideal match, and soon Mr. Malcolm wonders whether he’s found the perfect woman… or the perfect hoax.
The Forgiven (Cert TBC) | Wednesday 21 September 4pm
Ralph Fiennes, Jessica Chastain and Matt Smith star in this thought-provoking drama set in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. When a wealthy unhappily married London couple are involved in a tragic accident with a local teenage boy on the way to an opulent party, their attempts to cover up the incident have far reaching reverberations on the lives of both the local Muslims and Western visitors. Powerhouse performances, an incisive script and bursts of caustic humour make for an engrossing meditation on guilt, morality and white privilege.
Three Thousand Years of Longing (Cert TBC) | Thursday 29 September 4pm
Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton star in this dazzling and wildly inventive adult fairy tale steeped in magic, romance, adventure and age-old Eastern myths. While in Istanbul for a conference, a lonely scholar of story and mythology discovers a Djinn who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. Knowing the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong she is wary of accepting, but the Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past and eventually she makes a wish that surprises them both.
