Sling Meets are friendly support sessions which are facilitated by qualified Sling Consultants and Peer Supporters who run the library on a voluntary basis.   At present you must book a support session before attending. All sessions cost £5 per family.  We are currently unable to accept drop ins except to return a hired carrier. If you are returning an item and would like further support please book a session. View our risk assessment – if you have any questions please ask.

Older children/siblings are very welcome but must be supervised at all times, there are lots of babies so please take care to look out for little ones.  Sessions run once a month at St Marks Church Hall.

ACCESS INFORMATION: The entrance is over slightly stony/grassy ground but the route into the building is step free.  We are in the main hall which is on the right once you come into the entrance hall.  If you experience any difficulty accessing the space please call us on 07442 491002 and we will come to assist you.  The venue has an accessible toilet and disabled parking on the road immediately outside the grounds.

SLING AND CARRIER HIRE
Sling hire is £15 for 4 weeks/until the next session (can occasionally be 5 weeks between the monthly meet).  We require a £50 cash deposit.  We offer a stretchy wrap starter hire of 1-3 months at just £5 a month.

It is your responsibility to return a sling when it is due.  If you return it late you may be charged fees for the additional time it has been in your possession.  If you wish to extend or cannot return for any reason please get in touch by email.

When you return a sling you do not need to book a slot unless you want additional help, just look for a peer supporter who is available and they can assist you in processing the return.

Inclusion statement

Cheltenham and Gloucester Sling Library is a community organisation run by local people for the benefit of all members of the local community who need help to use slings and baby carriers.  We are an inclusive organisation and we welcome all families including those who are adopting, single parents, disabled parents and children, all sexualities and communities.  We use an accessible venue (details below) and our team are happy to work with you to accommodate any specific requirements.  Babies and older siblings are welcome at all our events.

We positively promote inclusion of all members of society who need this assistance and we aim to provide an accessible and appropriate service that does not discriminate against anyone based on:

  • Gender or gender identity
  • Age
  • Sexuality
  • Race or Ethnicity
  • Disability
  • Faith
  • Cultural group

We do this through our own practice and approach to treating each person as a unique individual for whom the support we offer should reflect their specific requirements.  We also aim to show the diversity of our community in our publicity and language.

We have assessed the space we use to ensure it is accessible for wheelchair users but we recognise there are limitations to the venue’s accessibility.  We provide clear information to enable disabled visitors to check if our space will be suitable for them.  Where a disabled parent or carer may need use to meet them at an alternative venue we will endeavour to do so.

We welcome any feedback from our local community about the service we provide and we aim to resolve any issues promptly and courteously.
